Isa's Wednesday reaction
Today's lecture opened my eyes to the idea of "infinite space." While it sounds appealing and worldy, I realized the concept actually left me unsettled. As we visualized as a class, ironically, the further I tried to stretch that space, the more trapped and claustrophobic I felt. It was almost as if the idea of zero constraints caused me to put up my own version of a limit. After experiencing this, I understand why people would react so emotionally to Darwin's theory of evolution. It's scary to be introduced to the complete opposite of what you're used to... especially if you feel you are alone in such nothingness. Darwin's theories vs. Religion is obviously a debate between science and faith. But by adopting one or the other, isn't one once again adopting a "wall"? It seems almost impossible to live without such a limitation, and if it is possible, such consciousness almost seems torturous. How is one supposed to enjoy, or even hate anything if everything is so transparent?
