This
debate between Ham and Nye wasn’t very fair.
By now, most educated people, whether they are religious or not respect
and understand that the world is much older than 6,000 years. From all the evidence collected by scientists
over the past few hundred years proves over and over again the fact that the
stories in the Bible were not fact. The
Bible is a great resource to learn about morals and to help develop a personal ethical
code, but it is definitely not a scientific fact book. People back in the day had a limited
understanding of the world around them, so they created stories in order to
help curb their fears of the unknown. What
I thought was most important about Bill Nye’s argument was his concern for
Kentucky’s lack of scientific education.
In a world with increasing demands for scientific research, education is
key. Kentucky is shooting itself in the
foot, and needs to change its ways otherwise it will be left behind.
