Ciara's Wednesday Reaction

I found Shap's idea about the reasoning for laws, quite intriguing.  One could say that we develop punishments for laws in order to scare people away from the temptation to break them, and that would be a valid point; however, as Shap emphasized, we are often given many different options of punishment which show that the enforcers expect them to be violated.  The irony is blatant; we make laws to stop people from committing crimes, but we have the punishments set up in anticipation of these crimes begin committed.

I am still pretty mindfucked as to whether we have any true control over our actions or not.  Are our actions predetermined based on specific combinations of chemical reactions that happen in your body?  Will we ever be able to explain the root of all our actions?  If we do, that day will be our demise, because man's belief in his free will is his driving force.
