Monday Post Juan Pino
Today we discussed how the journey is what we enjoy and not the ultimate result. I found this idea pretty perplexing but in the end I understood it. I think Raoul came up with a great analogy when he mentioned playing a video game. The end of the game isn't fun, one dreads the second that the screen says game over, and after you beat the game often times you may even start all over again, play the same thing over and over simply because it is in fact the journey that we enjoy and not the end result. I also found this idea very relatable to On the Road where the characters are living life without any particular goal in mind, they are just enjoying the ride. Furthermore, when Shapiro spoke about how he uses different roads as opposed to trying to get there in the most efficient way possible it really got me thinking. My whole life I have thought about getting everywhere quickly. I speed everywhere, and from now on I think I will start enjoying the ride some more.
