Juan Pino's tuesday reaction

Although I was not in class today, I have read my classmates’ posts on today’s discussion. It seems like the discussion revolved around human’s unpredictability. I remember Dostoyevski speaking about this at one point and how if an algorithm were to be developed to predict every decision a human would and could possibly make that we would consciously and purposely go against our initial instinct simply because we hate being predictable. Personally, if a person ever tells me I am predictable I take offense. To me it means that I am uninteresting, and thus boring. For this very reason I think naturally all humans would act differently if a machine were predicting their every move, simply to defy their own predictability and establish their humanity. We are not machines and I think that our unpredictability is part of the reason why despite our logical thinking, in the end we do remain human.
