Kaylee Tuesday post

I found today’s discussion topic very relevant and interesting. It’s crazy to think that even though humans are the most logical creatures on this earth, we still make decisions with no logic or rationality. I think it’s hard to explain why people make decisions that are not all advantageous. To me it is a number of things that drive people to work against themselves and their best interest. It a combination of using the power to make whatever decisions they want and the curiosity for the unpredictable. Dostoyevsky asks the question, “What is advantage?” It seems to me that there are no set advantages, with each person comes different advantages. There is however advantages that we all seek to obtain (wealth, freedom, peace, etc), however in the end there is no guarantee that we will be satisfied, therefore how are they real advantages? Are the advantages that we inherently seek actually good-natured, or do we conform ours into what society views as acceptable?
