How much do you like this book?

Natalies Post
Our discussion today in class brought up many ideas that I found very interesting and ideas that I have previously questioned. The question of whether free will exists or whether everything is predetermined is very interesting and sort of stressful. I am not sure if it will be possible to ever figure this out (although of course Raoul has a lot to say on this), but I hope that if somehow humans are able to realize that everything is predetermined, that our whole lives are planned out, that we will never have to know. Like it said in the book, finding out that your entire life is planned out will cause people to stop wanting to do anything, because in the end what is the point? I feel like what motivates so many people is the fact that they have the opportunity to choose what they want to do, and that they somehow have some control over their own lives. Also if it is decided that everything is predetermined then people will do bad things and say that it is not their fault. In a way I feel like I have done this before. Sometimes when I don't do my homework or I don't study for a test, I justify my answer by saying "you know what this was meant to happen". In a way I am implying that my actions are predetermined but maybe in a less "absolute" way.
