Monday Post
I really liked today's discussion as it put a lot of the goals other people tell me to strive for in perspective. I am not saying that they are all pointless but if all that we do , create, and destroy are merely forms of extending the "journey" aspect of our lives , the end goal should be furthest from my mind. What scares me the most about what we discussed is the possibility that even the journey won't bring me enjoyment in my life and the goals people keep telling me to shoot for end up being empty and unfulfilling. Dostoevsky's ideas are certainty gloomy but I really feel like he is really on to something when he discusses man's desire to create and destroy things again and again in the hope that the "journey" will not end. It always does however , and that perhaps is the most depressing part.
