Raoul's Thursday Blog

Today in class we talked about chose as human's greatest advantage. This got me thinking about the idea that true creativity is madness. My favorite lecturer (philosopher), Jason Silver, once said "in order to use your head, you have to go out of your mind. To be creative you have to be willing to go to unknown places to go to visit mental landscapes that are alien... to visit oz and return to tell the tale... The madman and the mystic swim in the same water." The truth is that in order to be an outlier, you have to be willing to go head first at life with a significant good chance of failure. Honestly, I do not interpret this as needing to drop out of school or anything (but it can be interpreted as this). I see this as the need to go out side of the norm, to do the unorthodox, and to immerse one self in awe.
