friday post Juan Pino

We watched the second half of the Creationism vs. Evolution debate today where Billy Nye gave his side of the argument. I was in complete agreement with everything he said. Most if not all of what Ken Ham said was absolute garbage. Ken Ham's model for origin is certainly not viable. Then again, I do believe that God put us on earth and as I have stated in previous blogs I still believe that the bible is not meant to be interpreted literally as Ken Ham interpreted and as it was interpreted in the debate. I firmly believe in the science that backed up Bill Nye's argument. For example, I don't believe that Noah's Ark was in fact 500 ft long, but perhaps there was an ark at one point and the information passed on in regards to the dimensions were incorrect. Furthermore, the earth is clearly more than 6,000 years old. There is science that backs it up. But, what are a million years to an eternal being such as God? A year? A day? An hour? Time is entirely subjective in that sense. For that reason I believe that the timing aspect of the bible where it states the earth is only 6,000 years old should be interpreted differently, along with many other parts of the bible.
