Gabe's Wednesday post

I liked today's discussion a lot as I feel like it was very relatable to what has been going on lately. It is pretty clear by now that most people do not take logic and reason to heart when they are making decisions. What struck me as foolish is that we invest countless hour of time and millions of dollars in maintaining an over-elaborate system of punishment for offenders of "crimes" that are bound to be broken like speeding tickets.  Furthermore, the purpose of this system is not to reform the offender but rather to keep certain people rich by pumping millions of dollars into our justice system. It is quite clearly all about money when you see private prisons springing up everywhere and the fact that the United States incarcerates more people than any country in the world.
