I kind of proved Dostoyevsky's point today in class of rejecting valid information because it does not personally benefit. It's not that I refuse to accept facts but it's a personal inclination to defend something about myself. With that being said everything goes back to ourselves. We only listen when it benefits us we only defend things when it's benefitting us even if it doesn't make sense. I don't know why I reject something that is statistically true but I do and even after today's class I probably still will because it's human nature and like Dostoyevsky said even if we can change we most likely won't. I think his work is extremely valid and relevant when it comes to describing human behavior even if some of it is hard to understand. I enjoy relating to this material and the fact that he wrote about all this in a sense validates me and my life when I put it into everyday use like today in class. I'm a fan :)
