Ryan Pearson NFTU 10

The theme of religion seeped back into our discussion today. Unfortunately, I did not comprehend the concept of the wall during my first read-through. As we talk about it in this second analysis, I believe Dostoevsky brings up a valid point with this. Strangely, yet evidently, we as humans allow a threshold to take shape around us which defines the depth of our existent exploration. When you remove yourself from the equation, it seems logical to move past the wall, however in situations you are still unconsciously allowing to impede you, you stay mindlessly content with the way things are. Also, Alexa’s commentary on her accepted stereotypes and those she disagrees with proved the author’s point entirely. Humans generally only have issues with the way people perceive aspects of their own lives. For instance, when someone says “golf isn’t a sport,” typically only those who have ties to the sport have a problem with that. Very few people will stand up for things that do not directly affect them. These people are the ones who go on to do great things for humanity with their lives. I’m not going to lie, when we started discussing how Jews are the smartest race, I didn’t get too upset ;).
