Keri's Tuesday Reaction

Today's discussion, of "Notes from the Underground" by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, brought about some points that I had never previously considered. Many of these were subconscious and somewhat psychological. I thought it was interesting how Alexa did not react when Mr. Shapiro said that black people are the best athletes but did react when he said that Jewish people are the most intelligent. She is not an athlete so she did not care about black people being the best but she is, however, a human being who is not Jewish so the statement about Jewish people being the most intelligent offended her. I completely understand why she was offended because I am Jewish and I still do not believe that this assertion is correct at all. I just do not believe that religions can be categorized like that. However, the premise of the point was that people as a whole are pretty selfish so we all want to be the best in our specific categories. If someone else is the best at something we do not care about, then we do not mind. However, if someone else is the best at something we are a part of, it is a completely different story.
