I particularly liked today’s discussion because it was different from the usual reading and analyzing. The symbol of “the wall” was mentioned again in the discussion in a different, more applicable way. During the meditation about outer space, I could not help but think about where we were headed, when I was going to get out of the space ship, and when the destination would end. I found myself questioning and putting limitations on the journey into space because the thought of spending an eternity in an unfamiliar, never ending environment aroused fear. We are so used to setting an expiration date, or having the comfort in knowing when things end. This idea of comfort relates back to the discussion about religion. It gives us a sense of comfort in knowing where we are headed after death and that there is someone watching over us, when all of that is taken away, hopelessness and fear start to manifest.
