This most
recent fifteen pages of Notes From The
Underground have really changed my opinion of the book. Part II has opened
the narrator up to show more emotion in his writing. I have several comments on this passage.
First, I do not understand why the man subjects himself to such awful bullying
from his high school classmates. As reserved as he was in Part I was as social
as he attempted to be in this last part. Also, I still am waiting to find out
the purpose in both the digression found in Á propos of snow, and the whole
story in general. I like how Dostoevsky
has stopped directing the conversation at the reader. It more closely resembles
a traditional story I have read in the past, and is easier to deduce. Hopefully
it continues like this for the remainder of the book.
