Ciara's Third Response to pages 30-45
This section brought me back to what Shap takes to us about in the beginning of the year: when you go out of your way to pass someone in the hallway. When I first read the narrator's narrative about how he planned an encounter with the officer, it further reinforced my idea that the narrator is a freak with no social capabilities whatsoever; however, when I actually thought about it, I realized it was not so different than those planned encounters in the hallway. We go over these minute situations in our heads, inflating them to these grand scenarios when, in reality, we'd be lucky if the other person thought about us once in the day. Even though the narrator's plan was much more intense (lasting two years after the incident), I am starting to think that maybe we are not so different from the narrator after all.
