Natalies Reaction pgs 20-45

Part One of Notes From The Underground, presented many interesting concepts. One of the biggest discussions is on the concept of free will and consciousness. Dostoevsky presents an interesting concept, he elaborates on the importance of free will and what discovering an arithmetic for human nature would entitle. I thought that this made a lot of sense, if all of human actions are calculated and accounted for, then there would not be a "point". People act out, and act in ways that are not advantageous because they are trying to maintain some sense of individuality and freedom. But if all of humans actions are calculated, even those done as acts of defiance, then there would not really be a point. Dostoevsky presents many interesting concepts on the nature of human, and the nature of consciousness. I really enjoyed reading about his ideas and his shift in Part Two left me a bit disappointed. Nonetheless the stories presented in Part 2 thus far prove interesting.
